10 Low Energy Self-Care Mood-Boosters

Self-care is often something that we intend to do, but when we’re exhausted, we can feel like it’s just too much effort to include in our day.

I’ve put together a list of 10 low energy self-care mood-boosting ideas for you to try out. Let me know if you give them a try!

1. Wash your face

You don’t even have to go into the bathroom, just use micellar water to wipe your face. I find Garnier Skin Active Micellar Cleansing Water particularly refreshing, and it helps on days where I don’t have the energy or motivation to have a shower. It sometimes even gives me the motivation to have a quick shower afterwards, since I’ve already cleaned my face and I feel more revitalised.

2. Brush your hair

Another relatively simple one that makes a big difference. Drudging around the house with matted, knotty hair makes me feel low, so taking a minute (or for me with my short hair, a few seconds) to run a brush through my hair can make a world of difference to my mood.

3. Change your pyjamas

Everyone needs a pj day every now and then, but try to get out of the previous night’s pjs and put on some fresh ones. This will help you feel cosier and makes the pj day more intentional and self-care-ish, rather than just not getting dressed.

4. Have a warm drink

Warm drinks are super cosy, whether it’s a cup of tea, hot chocolate, or even a vanilla latte (you can get sachets of this pre-made, just add hot water). Especially during these cold winter months, keeping warm is a great method of self-care.

5. Light some candles

Something as simple as lighting a couple of candles can dramatically improve the cosiness level of your environment, particularly if they’re scented. Choose something relaxing like lavender or vanilla for ultimate cosiness.

6. Cuddle your pet

There are actually studies that suggest that spending time your pet can improve your mood and boost our self-esteem. It takes very little energy to sit with your cat on your lap and giving them some fuss, but it can have a great impact on our wellbeing.

7. Pinterest

Save some Pinterest pins of ideas of things to do when you have more energy. This will help you feel productive without having to invest too much energy right at that moment.

8. Instagram

Look at cute animal photos on Instagram – it’s an instant mood booster, and it’s something you can do from the comfort of your sofa or bed.

9. Listen to a guided meditation

Sitting or lying and listening to a guided meditation is a great way to help quiet your mind and get rid of intrusive and/or cycling thoughts.

10. Nap

If all else fails and you just simply need some sleep, allow yourself to nap. Don’t feel bad about it. Listen to your body and let it get the rest it deserves.

What kind of self-care do you do when you have little or no energy? What boosts your mood when you’re feeling low? Let me know in the comments below!
